Well the WWE draft is upon us and one things for sure, someone big is going to Smackdown. Who's it going to be?Mmaybe WWE is playing games with us. For example, if you type in wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/johncena and what do you know!? It comes up with John Cena's profile rather than an error message. Now try wwe.com/superstars/raw/christian .... 404 error. Now that folks is very interesting... particularly as he is also advertised to appear at the Smackdown taping the following night. Perhaps this is WWE trying to tease IWC members. Maybe Cena will be drafted to Smackdown, it would certainly boost ratings for the show and theres a big Edge/Undertaker sized hole to fill week in week out. Another theory might be that he goes to Smackdown for a night, only to get drafted back a week later... I seem to remember that happening... maybe with Shawn Michaels. I just don't see Cena being drafted from the top rated show to Smackdown. Anywho, predictions you say? Lets do it.
Smackdown picks:
Randy Orton: Who better to fill that Edge shaped hole then one of the biggest stars in the business today. Orton would have some nice fresh feuds on that brand. Arguably, the biggest star behind Cena (maybe The Miz now?) it makes sense for him to move. How much sense does it make for them to draft Cena to Smackdown? With The Rock inevitably coming back multiple times to keep the spark behind their Wrestlemania 28 feud alive... I just don't see that happening on the 'B Show.' I don't believe Cena is going anywhere, Orton is the one.
The Miz: This may surprise people.... it relates to a draft pick for Raw... so keep your eyes peeled.
Sheamus: Its quite unbelievable how far Lobster head has fallen off the map on Raw. Despite being a two time WWE champion, the current United States champion, he wasn't even featured on the Wrestlemania card. He needs a fresh start with new opponents.
Zack Ryder: This is more of a hope than anything else. Tag teaming with Curt Hawkins, there was potential. Back in the old WWECW, the show was all about him for while. With the cancellation of WWECW, Ryder became a bit of a non existant member of the Raw roster, competing mostly on Superstars and sometimes... not even being on TV at all. WWE is a character driven business and if they want entertainment they need look no further than Long Island Iced Z. I'll admit, I've been all over his nuts since he debuted his youtube show which gets better and better each week. He's trying to get himself over and that is credible and he does an amazing job. Hell, he's more charasmatic, and more entertaining than about 3 quarters of the main roster and he can 'go' in the ring. Draft him to Smackdown, as a face... and get him in the US title picture. A feud between him and Sheamus could be an entertaining couple of months. He's made alot of new fans just from them youtube shows, as well as half of the roster touting him as amazing.
Daniel Bryan: Another case of falling off the map. I think Bryan would definately suit the blue brand better than he does Raw. Smackdown is more the WRESTLING show than Raw and he and WWE could benefit from having Bryan drafted. Bryan has the ability to go out and put on great 20 minute matches with just about anyone on the Smackdown roster and it would be nice to see him on TV again. Make it happen WWE.
Raw Picks:
Alberto Del Rio: Apparently Del Rio is currently pencilled in to face Cena at Summerslam... Could be a great feud... but its gonna take place on Raw. Del Rio will come over as the World Champion while Miz will go over to Smackdown (turn face btw) as WWE champion. Crazy prediction? Perhaps, but thats half the fun.
Wade Barrett: Lets face it, The Corre has been booked like crap... one week strong, the next week poorly... and now they're teasing a break up. Its time for Barrett to become a singles star and with Sheamus going to Smackdown, this would mean another championship would change brands. It'd certainly generate excitement.
Jack Swagger: I think they're beginning to build Swagger up as a potential championship threat again. With Michael Cole being his heat magnet (similar to what Vickie does for Dolph Ziggler) It's not difficult to see a change of scenery for Swagger, he could even turn on Cole at Extreme Rules and be in for a pretty big face push. This is another case of re inventing a talent that NEEDS to happen.
So what do you think? What are your picks, let me know on FB, Twitter or in the comments below.
Thanks for reading! I'll be back tomorrow hopefully, with Raw thoughts. Though I am working on a Uni essay, which might burn me out.
